Adam's Travel Guide
Tell us about your trip!
This was my first trip to Egypt and although I’d never been, I had long dreamed of it! First stop was Cairo, where we stayed at the classic Ritz Nile.

It is directly next to the Antiquities Museum which is wall-to-wall the most beauty one can find under one roof.

We next traveled to the Siwa Oasis in the north of the country, bordering Libya. We stayed at Adrère Amellal, an eco-lodge built entirely of clay and without electricity.

The extraordinary local food, culture, and light (the STARS!) made this truly magical. I had never experienced anything similar.
Then off to Abu Simbel, Aswan at the glamorous Old Cataracts Hotel and Luxor, where we stayed at the grand and equally run down (in the best way) Winter Palace.

Any advice for future travelers?
It is one of the most beautiful places on earth – but if you are the type that likes to be pampered or needs air conditioning, it’s not for you.
Favorite moment of the trip?
We had a private tour of one of the tombs in the Valley of the Queens. To have been alone in such an awe-inspiring place will always stay with me.
Deep in the earth, the tomb opened to a huge room painted so vividly it's as if it were done yesterday.
Favorite meal?
All of the meals in Siwa. They were traditional Berber dishes, most of them vegetarian.
